The next step towards increasing my palette was the introduction of an old guitar overdrive pedal, I used the pedal by creating a feedback loop within itself before running it into the Yamaha EMP100 that was also in a feedback loop with itself.
The DigiTech is capable of being turned into an oscillator creating sustained slightly dirty sine wave. By altering the LOW and HIGH parameters the feedback finds the quickest way around the circuit thus altering the frequency.
The digiTech rolls off a lot of the high frequencies giving whatever set up its in a dull timbre. The pedal was great for triggering the feedback loop in the EMP100, this would allow me to find sweet spots between the two where distortion was minimal and the more interesting sounds would be exposed. I also experimented with using the Tascam as a sound source but the feedback loop seems to stop when it gets introduces to the loop. However, this does open up possibilities to use the effects in a traditional sense and use it to shape the audio from the Tascam.
