The fist rehearsal with Larry (Bruce) and the ensemble helped me cement certain structures I can now recall during a performance, it also allowed a sense of how the performance may function on the 25th.
I found this useful as it made me realise my palette was still slightly restricted and that certain parts of my palette were not allowing me to feel confident when contributing to the composition.
In preparation for the performance at the Islands Gallery Space I set up a Facebook event page allowing the event to be easily promoted amongst the ensemble. I also created the poster seen to the left.
In order to expand my palette I introduced the a coil pick up in order to capture the sound of a wind up torch, this added an extra sound source to my palette yet I still felt restricted in what I could create. Finding a Boss SE-50 on gumtree I purchased this in the hope to run it stacked with my EMP100 effects unit.
I found the feedback similar to the EMP100 being a lot cleaner and richer in timbre than the multi effects pedal that I was using. The both in loop with each other produced interesting and quite expressive sounds that I can use during free plays.
