The finished instrument is a collection of pedals and effects units combined with contact microphone play. I can combine these objects into numerous different combinations to produce different timbres before shaping them with the DJ mixer. I have learnt how to use the DJ mixer to shape sounds to an effective level with it being at the core of all the sounds I produce, it allows me to apply both a HP and LP filter on the sound as well as a three band EQ, it allows for fade ins and outs and can allow for quick ons and offs of sounds with the cross fader.
I feel with my instrument I have several different palette areas that include tonal textural, modulated textural, impacts and gestures. Tonal textural and modulated textural all stem from feedback combinations shaped by the units and DJ mixer. The gestural section is centred around the DJ mixer as this is how I can add extra movement to the sound once a feedback loop is triggered, impacts can be made using the DJ mixer also by switching on textural slabs before using their units corresponding volume to allow for a release creating a percieved impact.
